Day 16: Accountability Partner
So you probably don't completely what exactly an accountability partner is.
An accountability partner holds you accountable for your daily actions taken for your business.
Everyone needs some one to help keep them completely focused on what needs to be done and where their time is being spent. It is very easy to get distracted from the things that need to be done; especially for us working from home. There are plenty of distractions in our lives and on the internet.
We just can't let these things distract us from what we should all be done, and that is making money. It happens to all of us.
The goal of working from home is first and foremost to make money, but second it is to have free time and make your own schedule. A lot of times though, we need to be held accountable to that schedule. By working hard at that schedule then we work our business into auto pilot.
Who Should Be Your Accountability Partner?
Your accountability partner should actually be in the same business as you and have the same products as your. The two of you need to be on the same level, so you should own the same products. You want someone on the same level as you in order to be able to do the same tasks, and your accountability partner can keep you on track, and focused, and help you all at the same time.
What Should Your Accountability Partner Do?
You have a schedule of what you need to complete everyday, if you don't then go make one now.
Google docs is free. You can go to Google docs and create a document that is shared between you and your accountability partner. The document will have listed each day what each of you need to complete and whether or not you got the actions complete.
You and your partner should allot a time EVERYday to take a look at this document. Not only to talk about the tasks that did or didn't get done, but to talk about the things that could help each other, get new ideas, and to motivate each other. This doesn't have to be a long drawn out "meeting". Just 3-7 minutes of your day to check up on each other. Facebook also makes it easy for you two to check with each other through out the day and talk. Instead of having a meeting time, you should notify each other by message every time you get a task completed.
How Can An Accountability Partner Help Me?
There is not just one upside to having an accountability partner, and that is keeping you focused and on track, there are many positives to this.
They will also share with you things that they have learned. This is a great way for you to learn and grow. The two of you can also trouble shoot together. This will be a great thing for you, especially if you are one that is easily distracted and it's hard for you to stay on track.
Ever been frustrated in your business? An accountability partner can encourage you and believe in you.
